Survey Results

My Survey did not receive the amount of responses that I was expecting, right now (20/10/2015) I only have 10 responses, this was way below what I was expecting to get from the Survey from Survey Monkey. My Expectations was to get around 50-100 responses, since I sent it to around 2000 students within the school. It seems that what I expected was no where near what I got, Since this is only the preliminary task this means I can work on these mistakes to make sure things like this wont happen in the real task.

From the results from the other Surveys that was used to compare which one was the best.

SurveyMonkey: Does work fine, Complies results into graphs, Can view each individual response. There are limitations to the uses on SurveyMonkey when using a FREE account including only allowed a maximum of 100 responses

Google Form: It works quite well with the data collection and as far as we got with responses Google Forms does do things that you would have to pay to get from SurveyMonkey e.g. Having the data into an Excel File for easy individual analysis. Also the results shown for each question are somewhat displayed in a simpler way.

Smart Survey: Proven to be unreliable, the account for some reason no longer exists when login in and when trying to view the Survey.

Since there is a lack of responses and issue is that I cannot fully base the outcome of my Magazine with my response as there is not enough to base on the majority of people the Magazine will be targeted to. I cannot use the results to rely on how I should make the Magazine 100% though given the position I'm in this is the only thing I would be able to refer off.

In terms of what problems I've come across was that there was a lack of people responding to these surveys and this means that I will need to come up solutions to fix this. One Idea I have is to go up to people/groups/classes directly and ask them to take the survey, this would assure I could gain a fixed number of people taking the Survey having the people I would go directly to would be more likely to take the survey.
Another Idea would be to try asking around in a wider area, try people I know from other schools and see if they can get people there to participate in this.

I should also try to look for other ways to get results to assure I would still have some set of results to refer to if the Survey next time was also not as expected in the given results.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even though I got a low number of responses I did get some interesting ideas for content and colour schemes that would look good.
The results shown were when I had 14 responses.

Creation of a Survey

I have created a survey on SurveyMonkey, I will use the results collected to help plan the content that would be on the magazine to then create the context page and to make the front cover headlines following the choices the people made in the survey to apply into the magazine front cover and context page.
I have also teamed up with two others and we are all using different Survey Websites, to see which one is more better to use, Since this is a preliminary task we should attempt to use as many methods possible, so when it comes to the main task we would already know which is the better and recommend survey to use.
(The Sruveys used  are SurveyMonkey, Google Forms and Smart Survey)
This thing can be used for any other stages that would require multiple methods to make it.

This is the Survey with the question, the survey questions are made to get a general idea of what they want to see on this Magazine with will help chose the layout, colour pallet e.c.t to use in the magazine

Action Planning for Preliminary Task

I had made a plan on Excel of my structured timetable but it looks very untidy even with all the organizing I had done, so I had changed from having the timetable on MS Excel to MS Word

Use Answers from Survey to start development and planning for creation of Magazine
This part is planned to be done over more than one lesson and out of class time also, this is taking in all the research and information gathered to start planning my own magazine and if needed to do extra research on the way.
Once I get the results which will be gathered over about a week or a bit, I should start to move on with creating the next parts of the Magazine planning, using the result from the survey to cover some of these:

Half term - Saturday 17/10/2015 – Sunday 01/11/2015

Confirm all the Final Decisions, then create Logo and any other content needed with the resources available on the Half Term, Complete Model Layout and Design and structure the Context page e.c.t
With all this done after the Half term all there should be left it to assure that I have completed all the stages prior to making the .

Tuesday 03/11/2015

Assure all the planning is complete by this stage and prepared for making the Actual Magazine
At this point I should have everything covered and ready to go into the creation of the magazine, but there is a chance I have overlooked something I thought I have done something that I have not done, so this is the Very Last checks and this day will be me structuring the design ready to jump straight into the making of the Magazine and I will plan all the steps I will take in the creation of the magazine.

Technology Ups and Downs

What I find useful in technology
&
What I don't find useful in technology

Useful

Technology for me shows to be extremely useful to me as for what I can do thanks to it. The fact that I can store all my work on a small portable device and can use my Tablet to help me be mobile to do my work as well, makes its very useful to me.

First off is simply using a computer to help with my work in general, being able to search up online and with the help of google I can get access to easy information. For anything I quickly need to check up on or understand I can use the resources off the internet to immediately help find something out. If that's to find Tutorials for something or to understand a term within this subject or another. Access to the internet thanks to technology can be very useful.

Second would be that I can store my work on a cloud or USB drive makes saving work and transferring it from one location to another very easy with such a small device I can take my work to and from school simply. Meaning I can be flexible where and when I do my work to help reach my deadlines. Meaning I can organize my time better something that can prove to be really useful

Also with use of a Tablet I own, I can use the Blogger App to update my blog on the go, meaning I can be mobile, doing my work not just at home and school and also to take pictures and uploading them quicker rather than moving them to a computer and uploading it on there.

In summary to the Usefulness of technology I believe having the use of the internet, portable storage and mobile apps can help improve the effectiveness of my work.

Not Useful

Though technology can prove to be extremely useful I have to say there are some dangers to using them making them not useful. In the cases of losing my USB stick or having damaged my device, it would then have no use to me.

If I was to lose my USB stick, since it is very small that would mean the loss of my work, this would prove to be no use to me. As unless I have backups (which I will) I would have to start all the way back at square one and would cost me valuable time.

Also to update my blogger and to do majority of my work I will need a computer and internet access, this would mean I would have to be connected to a Wifi network to get my work done, meaning if I was in an area or away and had no access to this, I wouldn't be able to get work done, meaning ints not useful when going so far from places. In addition if say, google was to be down or a given website I would also mean I would lose out getting information from this source meaning I would be relying on my information to come from sources that I wouldn't know if it will go down or not.

For the use of my tablet if I was to drop / damage it, I would hinder the uses on it meaning I would lose my mobility on doing my work and since Tablets can be fragile and can break easily if not handled carefully. So I would have to treat my things with care.

In summary the use of Technology can be very fragile if relied on alot of the time though it would mean getting work done quicker, I must always have a backup plan towards no having access to technology to help me do my work
